Snow-free Downtown Streets:
The downtown streets & sidewalks of Holland Michigan
stay snow and ice free during the winter because of
a snowmelt system that keeps the downtown by ways clear.
But, don’t worry about getting a hot foot from
the snowmelt system. It only keeps the sidewalks at
a toasty 40 degrees even in the severest weather. The
snowmelt system was installed in 1987 and uses miles
of buried tubing that is heated by steam generated at
city owned electric generating plant. |
